Hi everyone, I'm Álvaro Sahelices, Treasurer of GIT! I'm currently in my second year of Economics and Business Economics at RUG, with a particular interest in alternative markets, exploring opportunities beyond traditional markets.
What I love most about GIT is that it's a place where financial theory stops being abstract and turns into real decisions with real consequences. You're not just reading about portfolio construction, you're building and defending your investment theses in front of your peers, and being accountable for the outcomes. This hands-on approach fits perfectly with how I like to explore those interests, testing ideas rather than just reading about them.
As Treasurer, I manage GIT's finances, from budgeting and financial reporting to making sure our resources are allocated in a way that supports the organization's long-term growth and ambitions.
Outside of GIT, you'll usually find me at the gym, running, or reading.
