At GIT, we manage real capital because we believe the best preparation for a career in finance is doing the work. The same goes for recruiting. Landing a role at a bank, asset manager or trading firm is a process with its own timeline, standards and unwritten rules. Those who understand it early hold a decisive advantage.
That is why we support our members beyond the investor meeting. We have put together the resources below, drawing on the experience of members who have been through these recruiting cycles. They will help you plan your path from your first year of BSc to your first full-time role.
The GIT Career Timeline
Recruiting in finance starts earlier than most students expect. Spring weeks open in your first year, and summer internship applications open in August, often reviewed on a rolling basis. Graduate programme deadlines can fall within weeks of starting your Master’s.
Our Career Timeline sets out, semester by semester, what to focus on and when. It covers building your LinkedIn and CV, discovery programmes, working student positions, choosing your MSc, and turning internships into full-time offers.
CV Template
Your CV is often the only impression you make before a recruiter decides whether to read further. Our template follows the one-page format expected by banks, asset managers and consulting firms. It also shows how to present extracurricular roles, such as your work at GIT, with the same rigour as professional experience.
Application Tracker
A serious recruiting season can mean dozens of applications, each with its own deadlines, online assessments and interview rounds. Our tracker keeps everything in one place: firm, role, date applied, status and next steps. It also gives you a live overview of where you stand.

Beyond the Documents
These resources are a starting point, not a script. Members are always welcome to reach out to the board or senior members for advice on applications, interviews or choosing between offers. Through our guest lectures and company visits, we also connect you directly with the firms behind the opportunities.
Start early, stay consistent, and treat every application as an investment in your future.
